Text to Speech
Type or paste your text, pick a voice, and hit play. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- Type or paste the text you want to hear into the text box.
- Choose a language and voice from the "Voice" dropdown (the list comes from your operating system).
- Drag the "Speed" slider to adjust reading pace (0.5x–2x) and "Pitch" to change the tone.
- Click "Play" to start. You can "Pause" or "Stop" at any time during playback.
Tip: All processing happens locally in your browser. No text is sent to any server, so your content stays private.
Why is the voice list empty?
Voices are provided by your operating system. Some browsers (like Firefox) may take a few seconds to load them after the page opens. If the list stays empty, try refreshing the page or switch to Chrome or Edge.
Which languages are supported?
Supported languages depend on the TTS voice packs installed on your OS. Windows and macOS typically include English, Chinese, Japanese, and other common languages. You can install additional voices in your system settings.
How much text can I read at once?
Browser limits on a single SpeechSynthesisUtterance vary by platform. In general, keeping each chunk under a few thousand characters is safest. If playback cuts off unexpectedly, try splitting the text and playing each part separately.
Can I download the audio?
This tool uses the browser's native speech synthesis, which does not expose an audio stream for export. To save the audio, you can use your system's screen-recording or audio-capture feature, or use a dedicated TTS service that produces audio files.
