Customize Durations

Pick a mode and start
Use the toolbar to choose Work, Short break, or Long break, then press Start. Use Pause/Resume while running. You cannot switch modes during an active session — pause or reset first.
Focus and rest rhythm
When a work session reaches zero, a chime plays and the timer moves to the next break mode; after a break, it switches back to work. The tab title shows remaining time for quick glances in the background.
Customize durations and rounds
Adjust minutes and “long break every N rounds” under Customize Durations, then Save Settings to store them in this browser. Dots and the counter show completed work rounds and a preview of what comes next.
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
It structures work into focused blocks with short breaks in between to sustain attention. A common default is about 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest, with a longer break after several completed work rounds.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. Timing is based on your device clock, so switching tabs or minimizing usually does not reduce accuracy. Some browsers may throttle background tabs to save power — keep that in mind on mobile.
How do I change the default 25 minutes?
Open Customize Durations, edit the minutes for work, short break, or long break, then Save Settings to store them locally. Restore Defaults resets the built-in presets.
Does the chime need an internet connection?
No. The sound is generated in the browser, so no external audio files are downloaded. It works offline as long as the browser allows audio playback.
How are rounds counted? Does skipping count?
A work round is counted only when a Work session reaches zero naturally. Skipping does not add a round. After the interval you set, the next break becomes a long break.
