Customize Durations

  1. The page defaults to "Work" mode (25 minutes). Click "Start" to begin the countdown.
  2. When the countdown ends, a chime plays and the timer switches to "Short Break" (5 minutes) — press "Start" to continue.
  3. After every 4 completed work rounds, the next break automatically becomes a "Long Break" (15 minutes).
  4. Use the "Customize Durations" section to adjust minutes for each mode. Your settings are saved in the browser.
  5. Click any of the three mode buttons at the top to switch manually at any time.

Tip: The browser tab title shows the remaining time during countdown, so you can track progress even when the tab is in the background.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

Yes. The timer uses timestamp-based correction, so switching tabs or minimizing the window has no effect on accuracy.

Does the chime require an internet connection?

No. The notification sound is generated directly by the browser's Web Audio API — no external audio files are downloaded. It works fully offline.

How are rounds counted?

A round is counted only when a work session counts down to zero naturally. Manually skipping a session does not count as a completed round. Every 4 rounds, the next break automatically becomes a long break.
